SN74CBT3306: What is the state of O/P if Vin is 2V-3V

Part Number: SN74CBT3306
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A21366

Hi

We are using SN74CBT3306PWR in our design just want to know what will happen if pin#8 (VCC) slowly ramp-up from 0V to 5V then whta is the state of o/p from 0V to 4V since BCC operating condition is 4V to 5.5V

Thanks

Sagar

  • Below 4 V, if /OE is low, correct operation is not guaranteed, i.e., the switch might not be closed.

  • Switch will be Open, is this operation guaranteed?

  • Hey Sagar,
Clemens is correct. Below 4V there is no guarantee of operation. No guarantee of open or close. You are working outside the datasheet recommendations so we can't guarantee anything.
If you plan on doing this though, I would recommend holding /OE high while the boot up occurs if you can't work around this. We don't really guarantee any condition in this use case in the datasheet but it would likely keep the device off until the VCC boots up.

Are you looking for a NFET type switch? If you're just looking for a normal 2ch 1:1 switch, picking a device like TS5A21366 may be easier to use here. The control logic will be active high. So you can ground the inputs while ramping up then only apply the voltage after the ramping up has occurred. It also has power-off protection so if you are planning on having voltages on the inputs while the device isn't ramped up, it will protect the device better.

    Thanks,
    Rami
