TS3L501E: Using the TS3L501E in a design, inline to swtich between two ethernet cables.

Part Number: TS3L501E

Hi, I want to use the TS3L501E to switch between two ethernet cables.  Is it possible to use the TS3L501E without magnetics on either side of the mux?  In other words, just insert the mux in line of the CAT5E cables?  All the data-sheet says is that it can be used in place of a mechanical relay.

I'm concerned that I will need magnetics on both sides and even possibly an ethernet redriver chip.  Also the length of the ethernet cables is unknown however the system will be installed on a space vehicle.

I'm nervous.

Thanks,
