TMUX1208: 4-20mA signal through TMUX1208

Part Number: TMUX1208

I need to acquire several 4-20mA signals, coming from different sensors. My idea is to use several multiplexers (I'm considering to use TMUX1208) in order to bring 4-20mA signals to an ADC.

Sensors are not supplied by the current loop and 4-20mA signals will share the same ground of multiplexers and MCU.

My first hypothesis (option 1) was to use the following topology, that is 4-20mA signals are converted to voltage before arriving to the multiplexer:

I was wondering if it is indeed possibile (option 2) to take 4-20mA current signals through the multiplexer, and only next do the voltage conversion of all current signals (one at a time) with a single resistor, like in the following image:

Is it feasible to use the second option, that is multiplex current signals by using TMUX1208?

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards.
