TMUX4053: Absolute Maximum Ratings

Hi team,

I would like to consult the Absolute Maximum Ratings section of the TMUX4053PWR manual about the impact on the device if the input signal exceeds the marked value. Difference evaluation of signals of different amplitudes and durations outside the Absolute Maximum Ratings.

For example, the signal rail of TMUX4053PWR adopts ±2.5V power supply. In theory, the signal cannot be greater than ±2.8V. If the overvoltage signal input with ±5V lasting 1ns and lasting 1ms will cause damage to the device, is there any way to evaluate the difference?

    No; the absolute maximum ratings must not be exceeded, not even for a short time. Even if the device is not immediately damages, it might be degraded.

    Hi Lillian,

    Abs max ratings must be respected otherwise the device can sustain damage or have signal degradation like Clemens mentioned. In this case, if you apply a +/- 5V signal with a +/-2.5V supply, you will likely back power the supply due to forward biasing the diode. The device might survive a 1ns pulse if current ratings are respected, but TI can not guarantee operation beyond what is listed in the abs max case.
