TMUX7462F: UART overvoltage protection IC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX7462F, TPS25200

Tool/software:

Hi,

Are there any efuses that I can use for protecting a communication line that was initially designed for 3.3V but needs to be protected against over voltages of up to 20V and high current? Please let me know if there is anything available. Thank you.

NOTE: Added a Part number as looking for something similar but for a lower supply voltage of 5V or less.

  • A channel protector like the TMUX7462F protects only against overvoltage, but for UART lines, this might be enough. It is the only device with these features.

If you do not have a higher-voltage supply or also want overcurrent protection, use an eFuse like the TPS25200 instead.

  • Hello Samrat,

Looking at our portfolio, we have a few devices that are capable of protecting up to 20V and over, but not capable to be operated at 5V or less(at least single supply cases).

I agree with Celmens suggestion of the TMUX7462F, but its single supply range is 8 to 44V (dual supply range is ±5 V to ±22 V, which might work for you).

    Thanks,

    Nir
