CD4051B: On leakage current definition on the datasheet

Genius 16715 points
Part Number: CD4051B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX4051

Tool/software:

Hello,

Is the defenition of ON leakage current of CD4051B and the the same parameter of other recent TMUX part number different?

The below is from CD4051B datasheet,

And the below is from TMUX4051.

The measurement setup looks a little bit differnt.
Is "IDD" in CD4051 figure just a current meter?  or current meter + voltage supply?

Also I could find the setup figure for On-Channel leakage current - All Channel ON case for CD4051B.
What does "All Channle ON case" mean?

Regards,
Oba

  • Hi Oba,

Yes the setup will be the same as any of the newer TMUX. I don't like how it's drawn her as well but I believe you're correct that it's supposed to represent the voltage source and current meter. TMUX405x explains it better.

Where do you see "All Channels On"? There wouldn't be an all channels on case for the 4051 since it would only have 1 channel. So in a way normal operation with a switch path turned on would always be "All Channels On"

    Thanks,
    Rami

  • Hello Rami,

Thanks for your reply. The below is where "All Cahnnels on" is.

    Regards,
    Oba

  • This datasheet is shared with the 4052/4053 devices with multuple channels. For the 4051, "all channels" or "any channel" means "the channel".
