MUX36S16: Technical question regarding the supply voltage conditions

Part Number: MUX36S16
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HC4067

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I just received a question TQ regarding the possible working conditions.

Apperently they are looking for an alternative for ADG706BRUZ-REEL7.

I suggested MUX36S16IPWR but they are claiming that our device can not operate with the same supply voltage as competition and needs higher voltages. I am confused because the data sheet clearly says that the supply voltage goes up to 40V for Vdd but doesn't need it necessarily right?
Now I asked specifically what supply they are using for the mux!

They are using the following:

  • Vdd: -0.3 V to +7 V
  • Vss: +0.3 V to –3.5 V

Can you please help me and explain if this will also work with our device or not?
If not than I am missing something.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Rosario

  • The absolute maximum ratings do not matter. For the device to work correctly, you need to stay inside the recommended operating conditions.

The ADG706 works between 1.8 V and 5.5 V. The MUX36S16 requires at least 10 V. The only 1:16 mux with a similar voltage range is the CD74HC4067, with a different pinout and a much higher on resistance.
