TMUX646: 4:1 CSI-RX 4L Muxing

Part Number: TMUX646

Tool/software:

Dear Experts,

I would like to add for cameras to an MPU with 1x CSI-RX 4L Interface.

The AppnoteDeveloping Multiple-Camera Applications on AM62x

Describes a 4:1 line aggregator. I could not find any part that is capable to do this.
Can I use the following setup to aggregate 4-CSI Cameras to 1 CSI RX Port as described below?

Kind Regards,
Alex

  • Hi Alex,

Should work but be mindful that when you put back to back muxes in series your performance diminishes since you're adding more to bus. Do you happen to know the symbol rate?

See this app note for a little more on the effects of those cascading muxes

    Thanks,

  • Thanks Rami,

Do you know if there is any plan from TI to have a 4 channel Aggregator ?

    Regards,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

Currently we have no plans for a 4 channel aggregator. Best case would be to do as you're currently doing or thinking about this more, I think you could probably do away with the second TMUX646 and just use the /OE pins. Basically just shorting the outputs together and only turning on the device that is connected to the camera they want to access. You'd still have extra Coff added from the off channel but it should have less effect than having a second mux to go through.
So tie the select pins together and then have the /OE toggle which one if being selected.

    Thanks,
    Rami
