Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVCC3245A

I would like to use the sn74lvcc3245A in a voltage level shifting application.

I would like to convert 3.3lvttl port B to 2.5v cmos port A.

My intuition tells me the 2.5V source would be a reference in this application and all current would be sourced from the 3.3 rail.

Is this a correct way to think about how this ic functions?

How would i calculate my Icca.

These chips will be feeding a FPGa.

If i was going the other direction from 2.5v to 3.3 volts...the current would be sourced from the 3.3 rail also ?

  • It is pretty straight forward.  VCCA sources the A side buffers.  VCCB sources the B side buffers.

If port A is driving a bus that is heavily loaded, it will need to have a stable power supply on VCCA to drive that bus.  A ref may not be sufficient.
