Ethernet Switch Among TS3L501E & TS3L500AE which is a better part?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3L500AE, TS3L501E

Apps team,

Among TS3L501E & TS3L500AE which is a better part?

Also can I use these devices as USB 2.0 switch also?

  • Vikas,

What is your application?  Why do you need USB2.0 and not looking at our USB switches?

The better part will depend on your application needs.  See some of the key differences below I highlighted using the TI.com parametric table compare feature.

USB 2.0 specification calls for signals up to 480Mbps.  These switches have bandwidths >600MHz so they will be enough to cover that datarate.

For reliable signal integrity we recommend that you select a part that has a bandwidth that is 3 times the fundamental frequency.

The data rate is you need is

    480Mbps

The fundamental frequency of a signal is half the data rate.

    480/2 = 240 MHz

    3 time the fundamental frequency

    240MHz *3 = 720MHz

ps 600MHz should be able to handle USB2.0 but the above is our official recommendation.

    Thank you,

    Adam
