Need a switch for 10/100BaseTX Ethernet signal mux

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3L110, TS3L100, TS3DV20812

On behalf of the field:

the customer is working on a project and looking for a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet signal mux. Only needed for working with 100BaseTX, which only requires 2 signal pair. He was looking into the TS3L110 or the TS3L100. The T3SL110 is the newer part and has the following advantages:

  • Switching on Data I/O Ports (0 to 5 V)

  • VCC Operating Range From 3 V to 3.6 V

  • TA Temperature Range -40°C to 85°C

  • Bandwidth

questions:

- is there a a package preference?

- Are other parts with similar function? Is for example the TS3DV20812 an alternative?

  • Ranita,

To evaluate a switch for a signal standard you need to look at the configuration/channel count, the signal voltage range, and the bandwidth.

If you only need to switch one TX/RX pair to two different locations the configuration you are looking for is a 2 channel 2:1 SPDT device.

If you need to pass 100Mbps through the signal path you need a bandwidth >150MHz

Here are the switches I found on TI.com switch selection tool that are 2 channel, 2:1 SPDT, >150MHz.

Here are some additional e2e resources I found when searching "Ethernet switch" in the switches and multiplexers e2e forum.
