TS12A4514: TS12A4514/5 / Typo in SOT-23 pin configuration

Part Number: TS12A4514
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS12A4515

Hi,

It looks like there is typo in SOT-23 pin configuration.

Pin 1 is named COM but the picture does not show COM. I believe that pin assign is correct and the picture is incorrect. Is my understanding correct?

Best Regards,

Satoshi / Japan Disty

  • Satoshi-san,

    The drawing is correct.

COM is an abbreviation for COMMON port which is typically used in 2:1 switch indicating which pin is "common" to both signal paths.  Since the TS12A4514 is a 1:1 device there isn't a pin that is common to both signal paths as there is only one path.

IN pin is the digital control logic pin that will determin if the signal path pins NO, NC, and COM will be connected or Hi-Z.

The TS12A4514 shows that the normally open pin 2 (NO) will connect to the common pin 1 (COM) when the digital control input pin 4 (IN) has a logic High voltage.

The TS12A4515 shows that the normally closed pin 2 (NO) will connect to the common pin 1 (COM) when the digital control input pin 4 (IN) has a logic low voltage.

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • Hi Adam,

Please see the D or P package also. Please explain why the internal symbol of COM pin is different between D or P package and SOT-23.

    Best Regards,

    Satoshi

  • Satoshi-san,

I see the difference now.  Thank you for clarifying.

The TS12A4514 and TS12A4515 device are bi directional solid state FETs switch and don't have any moving parts like a mechanical switch.  It doesn't matter if the COM signal is the input or the output.

A more accurate drawing of the device would be something like this.

I will put in a request to have the circle and the black arrow be consistent across all 4 drawings.

    Thank you,

    Adam
