TS3DV642: Power calculation for signal switch

Part Number: TS3DV642

HI,

I am using this part in my circuit, and i want to know how much total current consumption for this part?I am operating this device at 3.3V.

I am calculating total power consumption for entire board so I want to measure Total power dissipation of MUX.

Can anyone share me calculation ?

Thanks

Ashutosh

  • Hi Ashutosh,

To check the max current consumption of the TS3DV642 you should look at the ICC value of the part and add the current into the channel for your system.

The ICC value in the datasheet specifies the current into the Vcc pin (this is the current consumption of the part). The table shows the value listed at 50uA at a Vcc voltage of 3.6V. Since your mux is running at 3.3V a good generalization is if the voltage decrease, so will the ICC value. Exactly how much it will change we don't know since it isn't specified in the datasheet. Since you are maxing a current consumption total for the whole board it would make since to use the 50uA as a conservative estimation.

To calculate the current into the channels you need to know that the device is a passive FET. Therefore the current is dependent on your system drivers and loading. The switch is ideally a wire and you can calculate the current through a channel by taking your supply voltage and dividing by your load resistance.

Here is a good E2E post with some equations for calculating current consumption.
