CD4097B: What is the input logic level

Part Number: CD4097B

Hi Team,

My customer is using CD4097B and supply voltage is 3.3V(VSS is connected to GND). The control level is described at 5V and what is the input logic level when supplied voltage is 3.3V?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Vincent,

As you suggested, VIH and VIL of CD4097B are not specified at Vc = 3.3V. I would assume the following analysis.

The VIL and VIH of CD4097B are proportional to its supply voltage. You can tell from the table below.

    VIL (max) = 1.5V, VIH (min) = 3.5V when Vc = 5V
    VIL (max) = 3.0V, VIH (min) = 7.0V when Vc = 10V
    VIL (max) = 4.0V, VIH (min) = 11 V when Vc = 15V

    Therefore, for Vc = 3.3 V case, the VIL(max) = 1.0V and VIH(min) = 2.3V. Please let me know if you disagree.
  • Hi Fan,

Got it, and thank you very much for your prompt response.
