I'm working on a design now that involves switching analog audio ac signals using a mux using the older 74HC4053.
I'm curious on the differences with the 54 and 74, and CDHCT, CDHC respectively.
Also, is this the recommend TI part to handle this audio switching application?

Our switches designed specifically for audio signals are the TS5A2366X family. You can find more information in this e2e posting.
The differences in the 54 and 74, and CDHCT, CDHC are stated in the datasheet. Major differences are military grade for CD54 and supply voltage differences between HC and HCT.
