MUX506: MUX506 voltage

Part Number: MUX506
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD4067B

Hi,

I could not find a real answer to my question in the datasheet.

I would Like to use the IC in an application where 3.3V and 5V are mixed.

The analog Voltage is between 0V to 5V and the voltage or the digital Voltage is mixed with 3.3V and 5V.

The Power Voltage is 5V only. Does the Logic detect a 3.3V signal as high?

Thank you very much in Advance.

  • Christoph,

TI's signal switches are passive FET switches and do not have and drive capability.  You can think of the signal path as a low resistance wire which means it can pass both analog and digital signals of any voltage within the recommended operating conditions.

However the MUX506 lowest the power supply voltage that will be valid is 10 V.  If you would like to use a device that can accept a 5 V power supply.  You will need to choose a device like the CD4067B which can be found using the TI.com switch parametric tool.

    Thank you,

    Adam
