TMUX1108: What are Off-Leakage Current and On-Leakage Current

Part Number: TMUX1108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3A4742

Hi team,

I noted  7.2 Off-Leakage Current and 7.3 On-Leakage Current of TMUX1108 datasheet.  But I still don't know what the  Off-Leakage Current and On-Leakage Current meaning are.

If TMUX1108 is off and there are not VS and VD power in my circuit, do this exist the Off-Leakage Current?

For the 7.2 Off-Leakage Current  of the datasheet, there are VS and VD on the left and right of TMUX1108, so this will exist the Off-Leakage Current?

Would you please explain Off-Leakage Current and On-Leakage Curren in detail?

Also, I want to select the lowest Off-Leakage Current and On-Leakage switch. 1:1SPST, 1 channel, 3.3V power supply. Would you recommend a suitable switch?

  • User4674678,

    1) If TMUX1108 is off and there are not VS and VD power in my circuit, do this exist the Off-Leakage Current?

No, a voltage must be present to on the S or D pin to push current into the device.

    2) Would you please explain Off-Leakage Current and On-Leakage Curren in detail?

TI.com precision lab training is a good place to learn about the performance of many devices.

Here is the link to the training on leakage current for multiplexers.

    3) Also, I want to select the lowest Off-Leakage Current and On-Leakage switch. 1:1SPST, 1 channel, 3.3V power supply. Would you recommend a suitable switch?

The Ti.com switch selection tool provides this ability.  You will filter for configuration, channel, power supply, and sort on on-state leakage current least to greatest by clicking the top of the column.

I would recommend the TS3A4742 based off your criteria.

    Thank you,

    Adam
