SN74HC4066: Datasheet current characteristics over temperature

Expert 4105 points
Part Number: SN74HC4066

Dear support,

About the characteristics of the currents mentioned page 5 of our datasheet, we have some difficulties to understand why the values at 25°C are above the ones over -40 to 85°C. Is it a mistake?

Could you also provide these current characteristics (or at least few data) for a 3.3V power supply?

Regards,

  • Hi TISL,

This does seem like a potential mistake in the datasheet. We will look into this and work on an update as needed!

Is leakage current a key concern in your application? What is connected to the input and output of the mux in your system?

  • Hi Dakotah,

In fact the customer connects capacitors on the A input. So A and B signal inputs are below 2V.

C inputs are at 0-3.3V (LVTTL)

    Waiting for your feedback.

    Regards,

  • Hi TISL,

If leakage is a key parameter in your system due to the capacitor on A pins (sample and hold application?) then you might want to check out the new TMUX1111 device. This switch is in the same configuration as the SN74HC4066 but the new TMUX1111 has much lower leakage current (pA typical and nA max compared to the uA on the SN74HC4066).
This may improve performance in your system if that is important to your customer.

We will update you on the results of the SN74HC4066 datasheet.

  • TISL,

This looks like a typo as they updated from revision G to revision H.  The leakage current will be higher across temp than 25 deg C.

I have added this note to the datasheet update backlog.

    Thank you,

    Adam
