TMUX1108: Analog input signal present before VDD

Part Number: TMUX1108

Will the device be safe if a signal is present on an analog pin before VDD comes ON as long as the current into the pin is limited by an external resistor to less than 2 mA? This is assuming there are ESD diodes on the analog pins. Is the assumption correct?

  • Hi Niraj,

Yes, the TMUX1108 has internal ESD diodes that can be utilized by limiting the current.

Here is a link to another E2E which discusses this more.

How are you using the mux in your system that is leading to signals above VDD being present?

  • Hello Dakotah,

Thanks for a prompt response; this answers my question. We are monitoring the input power rail that powers up a board. The mux is on this board and is powered by a dc-dc converter powered off the input power rail. There is a finite delay before VDD appears and during this period the mux input sees the input rail ( actually a divided down voltage which is less than VDD when all is settled down).

    Regards

    Niraj
