TMUX1511: MUXing a CAN interface

Part Number: TMUX1511

Hi Team,

I have a customer looking for a way to MUX the CAN Transceiver that they have on a device. They have different pin-outs on their CAN connector that they need for different use cases for their device. Would a MUX like the TMUX1511 work in an application like this? Do we have any collateral that shows if / how this can be done?

Regards,

Mihir

  • Hi Mihir,

Can you confirm the voltage and datarates you would like to support?

Can you share a block diagram of your application? The TMUX1511 is 1:1 switchwith 4 independently controlled channels - Based on your use case and pin-outs for the CAN connector, we can recommend the best switch to mux the CAN transceiver.

    Thanks

  • Hi Saminah,

The typical voltage would be 0-5V. The signals usually have a common mode of 2.5V with a +/-1V differential signal as shown below:

The signalling rate is upto 1Mbps.

Unfortunately I dont have a block diagram, but there is only one CAN Transceiver in the system, which has 2 lines (CANH and CANL) that need to be switched to various pins (lets say 4 pins for each line). What would you recommend here?

    Regards,
    Mihir

  • Hi Mihir,

The TMUX1511 should be able to support the requirements you shared. Please let me know if you have any further questions,

    Thanks
