TMUX1308-Q1: how will the mux RON affect the ADC input

Part Number: TMUX1308-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1208, CD74HC4051, TMUX1308, , TMUX1208-Q1

e2e,

I'm considering to use MUX CD74HC4051 to expand the ADC input, what’s your recommend for this application? TMUX1208 or TMUX1308?

I checked in the datasheet, the RON is different, how RON will affect the application? What’s the main difference else between this 2 devices?

 Will it be cheaper?

Thank you,

Adam

  • i Adam,

The main difference between the TMUX1208 and TMUX1308 is highlighted below:

TMUX1308-Q1: Supply range 1.62V - 5.5V, has current injection control feature and back powering protection , RON = 59 Ohm (typ)

    TMUX1208-Q1: Supply range 1.2V - 5.5V, RON = 5 Ohm (typ)

For ADC input sharing, if you are monitoring multiple sensors with single ADC, having a low RON enables lower distortion and better linearity for precision measurements.

This video explains Input signal dependent distortion due to MUX RON

The TMUX1308  has lower cost than the TMUX1208

Does you application require high precision measurement?

Depending on your application requirements, you can select between the two switches.

    Thanks
