MUX36S16: Fail safe behavior of MUX36S16/D08

Part Number: MUX36S16

Hi team,

How can we realize the fail safe behavior of MUX36S16/D08 during power off?
i.e. How can we maintain the MUXed output node in open during power off even if some potential is injected from the inputs?

Can 10kohm input resistors for up to 36Vpp input or some noise events (IEC61000-4-x) help such a fail safe behavior during power off?

Best regards,
Iwata Etsuji

  • Hi Iwata Etsuji,

We currently don't have 1:16 or 1:8 2ch devices with Fail-safe protection in the mid-voltage range.
The MUX36S16/D08 are able to handle signals up to 2V above VDD and digital inputs up to 0.3V above VDD.
Otherwise you'd have to make sure, that these voltages are not exceeded, i.e. to turn off the IC of the signal origin before turning off the MUX.

Can you share a few more details what kind of signals you are working with? And what your application is?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the ESD event helping the fail-safe behavior. Can you elaborate on that?

    Best regards,

    Ambroise

  • Hi Iwara Etsuji,

Can you give us an update on this?

    Thank you and best regards,
