Hi HSG,

There is no direct internal connection between COM and GND but there are ESD diodes between COM and GND (see IIOK specification in the absolute maximum rating showing the maximum current that you may put through the ground-clamp diode)

Thank you for the information. In follow up:

On the TS5A3159, how does the FET driver work then if there is no connection between COM and GND? I am concerned there will be a ground loop somewhere unless the driver is isolated. Can you comment?

Hi HSG,

Both the FET driver and the FET share the same substrate that is electrically connected to GND. All voltages defined on our datasheets are with respect to GND.
