TS3V713EL: Pin 29 VDD design as floating will cause any issue?

Hi Sir,

My customer design competitor's PI3V713-A as main source and we are trying to use TS3V713EL to replace them.

And customer is only acceptable the p2p drop replacement, and any BOM change is not allowed.

Once they replace TS3V713EL in their board, they found the function doesn't work.

And we compare the different is only pin29 is design as floating which is our VDD pin, will it be an issue if pin29 VDD design as floating?

Could you please help to advice it?

    Hi Anne,

    So the reason the TS3V713EL is not working properly is because the part requires all the VDD pins to be connected to the power supply. When not all the VDD pins have the power supply on them, the FET's inside the chip will not be biased correctly and will not work as intended.

    The PI3V713-A  has a test mode and 3 VDD pins versus the 4 VDD pins on the TS3V713EL. The TS3V713EL does not have this test mode feature.

    Unfortunately the other VGA switches we have are going to have the same issue in respect to Pin-out. 

    If your customer can connect this pin to the VDD it shouldn't require any BOM changes and minimal layout changes since pin 29 is located closely to pin 32 which would already have a VDD source connected to it. If this is a possibility the TS3V713EL will function properly.
