TS3L301: can we use both I2c and SPi signal in same mux?

Part Number: TS3L301

We are using TS3L301 for muxing SPI and I2C signals,

My question is Can we use Same mux for switching both I2C and SPI interface on single mux??

  • Harsh,

I believe a similar question was posted on the forum a while back. I'll share for reference:
    https://e2e.ti.com/support/switches-multiplexers/f/388/t/722734
The question doesn't specify the use of I2C and SPI at the same time but yes this should be fine. As mentioned these are passive FET switches so as long as you use the proper pullup resistors to drive the voltage you need and stay within the recommended specs of the device, this should be fine.

Is there a particular reason you selected the TS3L301? We have similar devices such as the TS3501 that could be a cheaper solution, depending on the system you're working with. If the 16:8 configuration is what you're looking for, you could also do 2 x TMUX1574 and it would still be a cheaper and even smaller solution if you select something like the UQFN packaging.

    Thanks,
