TMUX1219: Bi-directional selection

Part Number: TMUX1219

May I use TMUX1219 to do the following:

VDD=5V,

1. by setting SEL voltage at GND, S0 as input at 3.3V ==> D as output =3.3V

2. by settling SEL=5V, D as input =3.3V ==> S1 as output =3.3V

D will be connected to MCU IO pin, which will become input or output pins during operation.

  • Yes.

    This device is a passive switch; the D pin and the selected Sx pin are simply connected. The switch does not care in which direction the current flows.

  • Daniel,

    The TMUX1219 has the sources labeled as S1 and S2. For your first case you'll have S1 connected to D. For your second case S2. You can refer to the truth table in the datasheet for this:

     With the VDD at 5V, the TMUX1219 can supports signals from 0V to 5V. So if you apply a signal of 3.3V on one side of the switch you will see 3.3V on the other side. It's a passive switch so the side of the device (S or D) won't matter from the perspective of the switch.

    Hope this helps,
