CD4051B: Interfere adjacent from unused floating pin

Part Number: CD4051B

Hi team,

Could you give me comment on following customer question?

Q1. Do you think floating ch7 will interfere unexpected effect to the adjacent pins even in the use case that the ch7 is not selected?

In the customer design, ch0 to ch7 as the input side and COM is the output side. The customer wants to confirm if floating ch7 will influence the COM output level or not.

Best regards,

Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hi Takeshi,

Channel 7 (pin 4) on the device can be left floating and it shouldn't influence the output signal level and in most applications floating an unused channel is fine and shouldn't influence the output much. However for high speed applications it is best practice to ground the unused pin with a 50 Ohm resistor - for more information about unused pins please see our precision lab video here.

If you have any more questions please let me know!

    Best,
