TS5A3159: Definition of current meter

Part Number: TS5A3159

Hi,

I have some questions for current parameter of TS5A3159DCKR, could you help to explain the meaning of below items?

1.     II/OK

2.     INO, ICOM (INC don’t need to define?)

3.     ON-state peak switch current

4.     IIK

5.     Continuous current through V+ or GND

  • Hi Jin,

Please see below for the following definitions:

    1. This is the analog port max clamp current. This device has ESD clamps to both V+ and GND - If input voltage exceeds V+ or dips below ground current can be conducted through these diodes - this is the max current they can handle before damage is more likely to occur. This is +/- 50mA for this device.

    2. INO, ICOM - The max nominal current through the switch (The INC spec is the same - It looks like they just didn't include it in the definition box). This is +/-200mA

    3. This is the max current they tested with a 1ms pulse with < 10% duty cycle - it is supposed to show that in the case of a current spike the device can handle a bit higher than rated max current. So if there is a short pulse of current that is < |+/- 400mA| the device will not be damaged. However the system should be designed with the nominal current max in mind.

    4. This is similar to Il/OK from item #1. However it is for the digital control pin (IN). This shows that there is a protection clamp from ground to the IN pin. If the IN pin's voltage  <0V  - the clamp will begin to conduct - this parameter gives the max current that will conduct before damage may occur - this is -50mA for this device. The negative sign is there because the current will come out of the pin when the voltage is < 0V.

    5. This is the maximum rating of current through V+/GND. If more than +/- 100mA of current goes into the V+/GND this device can be damaged.

    Best,
