TS12A4516: Suitable chip recommendation

Part Number: TS12A4516
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1511, SN74CB3Q3306A

Hi Team,

My customer wants a chip to apply in his application. They want to a switch or a solution. Here are his requirements:

1.The output follows the input signal, the normal signal level is either 1.8V or 3.3V.

2.Device power supply can be 3.3V or 1.8V.

3.The input signal frequency can be evaluated at 10Mbps.

4.Input the signal that can withstand the surge voltage, it is best to meet the 30V impact after the surge.

5.If the device is powered by 3.3V or 1.8V, it will not be a problem if the input end is long for 5V DC.

  • Hey Gust,

We won't have a 1 channel, 1:1 switch such as the TS12A4516 that can meet these requirements. Specifically the 5V DC input while the device is powered by either 1.8V or 3.3V. But we do have some in 2 or 4 channels.

It sounds like you'll looking for a device that can handle 30V but also be powered by 3.3V or 1.8V. Which we won't have, but perhaps adding external protection? Here's an app note
System-Level Protection for High-Voltage Analog Multiplexers:

If you can protect from surge in this manner, then the criteria become easier to meet. For example, a TMUX1511 is a 4 channel, 2:1 device that can be powered by 3.3V and handle up to 2x Vdd (6.6V input in this condition). Bandwidth is 3GHz for this device so the 10Mbps shouldn't be a problem.

Another 2 channel 1:1 device that may work is the SN74CB3Q3306A which can be powered with a 3.3V supply and handle up to 5.5V I/O regardless of the power supply.

    Thanks,
    Rami
