TMUX136: Noise Inquiry

Part Number: TMUX136

Hello Team,

My customer is looking forward to use our TMUX13, however they wanted to know any noise that associated with it and its specification.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Renan

  • Hi Renan,

We do not have data for noise figures on this multiplexer.

I assume this is for a higher frequency application - as this is one of our highest bandwidth parts - if this isn't the case please let me know!

However if this is the case the most dominant noise in the system at that point is going to be thermal noise - which is based on the resistance of the switch as well as the temperature. For lower frequency noise we don't have a spec - but to minimize impact  please follow the power supply guidelines from the datasheet - shown below:

    """

TI recommends placing a bypass capacitor as close to the supply pin VCC as possible to help smooth out lower frequency noise to provide better load regulation across the frequency spectrum

    """

A 0.1uF Capacitor is the typical value for this part as a power supply decoupling capacitor.

This device is designed to allow high frequency signals with very little distortion - to help minimize noise coupling and other interference - please see below for layout guidelines - page 16 in the datasheet for reference:

These layout guidelines will help maximize the devices performance. Lower Frequency bands are more susceptible to noise in a multiplexer - but in high frequency application and using proper supply decoupling capacitors this isn't a huge concern in most applications. For thermal noise estimates use the temp as well as the switch's on resistance to get an idea of noise due to thermal factors.

If I can do anything else for you or if you have any more questions please let me know!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
