SN74CBT3253C - break before make time

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CBT3253C

Hello,

I am checking a possibility to use SN74CBT3253C in my design as a multiplexer (4 inputs to 1 output), I would like to know about "break before make" function of the device ("break before make time" - the time delay between shutting off one channel and turning on any other channel in the same quad following the change in  S0, S1 logic state without changing OE). The parameter is critical for avoiding shorting of two input signals in multiplexer configuration.

Can you please help me with the information about "break before make time".

Does changing of S0 S1 signals can be made without inserting the device in to the high-Z state using OE pin (p.s. inserting the device to high Z can remove the need in "break before make" delay).

Thank you.

Alex.

  • Alex,

I have copied the appropriate applications engineer for the this device to give you more information about break before make time for the SN74CBT3253C.  They will get back to you as soon as they are able.   Thank you for you patients during the holidays.

    Adam

  • Hi Alex ,

The datasheet doesn't explicitly mention about break before make feature of the device .

The break before make feature can be thought as ten time for the S signal to propagate through the gates to change the signal to Bx .

If the application is sensitive to BBM , OE can be used .

The production testing doesn't verify the tbbm feature and hence it cannot be guaranteed on the datasheet to customer .
