Maximum Junction temp data for the TS3A5018

Question on behalf of customer:

Customer is using TS3A5018PWR. They observed the temperature of this IC goes up to 84°C.  and they are managing system temperature lower than 77°C.

Do you have tested data for the maximum junction temperature of this IC?

  • Ranita,

    The abs max junction temperatures of this device are going to be most dependent on the package and the amount of current passing through the device.  Which package are you using?

    I think you will find this e2e post helpful

    You can use this formula Tjmax= Ambient Tempmax + Pmax(RθJA) to calculate the max junction temperature:

    An example of the the max power for the TS3A5018RGY device can be calculated by

    Pmax = (V+max)(I+max) + 2*[(Ino,Inc,Icommax)^2(Ron)]

    About 98mW = (3.6 V)(10uA) + 2[(64mA)^2(12 Ohm)

    Tjmax= Ambient Tempmax + Pmax(RθJA)

    Tjmax = (85°C) + (98mW)(51°C/W)

    Tjmax = 90.01°C

    This is going to be the maximum junction temperature which is inside the IC package on the silicon.  How this heat is dissipated will depend on the system PCB design.

    Thank you,

    Adam
