Frequency response of LMS4684

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMS4684, TS5A23159

Regarding the analog switch product LMS4684, a customer asked, what is the Frequency response of the switch?  i did not see this documented in the datasheet.

  • Naser,

I apologize that the LMS4684 doesn't have any frequency response information in the datasheet.  I have contacted the engineer supporting this device to help you find more information.  Was there a particular reason you selected the LMS4684 device?  We have 21 different 2-channel 1:2 SPDT switches I found on the TI.com signal switch selection tool.  Many of these other switches have frequency response information with some including s-parameter models.  Do you think a different switch would help you move forward?

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • Hi Adam,
I am helping the customer with this question.  We are looking for a SPDT switch using transmission gate to create a disconnecting feature for SCSI bus. Would you suggest a part that fits their application?

    Thanks,
    kay

  • Kay,

The most similar device to the LMS4684 with frequency information is the TS5A23159.

If I'm understanding correctly you are looking for a switch to turn on and off an SCSI bus?  This would mean you are looking for an SPST device 1:1.  An SPDT (1:2) device would be used when you needed to take data from an SCSI bus and route it between two separate locations.

I looked up SCSI bus on google and found on Wikipedia there are numerous Small Computer System Interfaces (SCSI)

We have 103 different devices 1:1 SPST and SPDT 1:2 devices will a variety of channel counts.  If you are looking for a transmission gate type of switch you are probably wanting to have a device with low power consumption.

I've selected the 1:1 SPST and 1:2 SPDT switches on the TI.com selection tool and sorted the list on Icc (power consumption)

If you could help me understand the number of channels/signal paths are you are trying to switch in a 1:1 configuration or 1:2 configuration we help narrow down the part selection.  Also if we know what bandwidth or datarate your bus requires we can narrow down this list.

Maybe it would be helpful to draw a diagram of the type what you are looking to accomplish.

    Thank you,
    Adam
