TS3USB3200 USB signal path support MHL?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3USB3200

Dear Sirs

Does TS3USB3200 USB signal path support MHL?

  • Nat,

Short answer is yes the USB path on the TS3USB3200 may be used for MHL signal.

These signal switches are passive FET switches and can be thought of ideally as 0ohm wires.  The main difference between USB and MHL is the digital protocol but the analog signal that delivers those bits is very similar.  To evaluate if a signal switch can pass a specific protocol you need to look at the analog specificaitons of that analog signal like the voltage level and Bandwidth.

If you look at this chart in this e2e thread it lists several of the analog specifications for common signal protocols.

You will see in the datasheet that voltage level and bandwidth stated in the TS3USB3200 datasheet for the USB path is sufficient to support the MHL signal.

    Thank you,

    Adam
