TS3A24157: Absolute maximum ratings : Analog signal voltage

Hi

I want to make it clear the specification of Analog signal voltage.

I could not get the meaning of the following note.

[Absolute Maximum Ratings]

Analog signal voltage(4)          –0.5(min)    VCC + 0.5 V(max)

(4) This value is limited to 5.5V (maximum).

According to the note (4), Analog signal voltage seems to be limited by 5.5V as maximum.

Is this always applicable?

For example:

When VCC=0V, could the analog signal voltage accept 5.5V?

BestRegards

  • Hello,

The maximum rating for the device is -0.5 (min) to Vcc + 0.5 V (max) as you stated, so if the Vcc = 0V, then the acceptable voltage range is -0.5V to +0.5V.

The sub-note is indicating that you cannot exceed 5.5V on these pins, even if the supply were 5.5V, the upper limit would remain at 5.5V (not 6V as would be indicated by the Vcc + 0.5 V max listed). On this particular device, this sub-note doesn't make a lot of sense, but it would make more sense on a device that has a Vcc range that includes more than 5V.
