TS3A24157: Use of TS3A24157 for UART switching

Part Number: TS3A24157
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3A24159

Hi

Can we use TS3A24157 or TS3A24159 for UART switching like this manner with 115200 communication baud rate

  • Hello Nitin,

Based on the diagram you have above, technically speaking yes. Your Baud rate or bps is low enough for either of these switches to handle. The only thing I would caution you on is to ensure that your application including the signals does not exceed that of the recommended specs in the datasheets of whichever two devices you choose from.

    Thanks,
    Louie
  • Thanks Louis for the guidance

In my design MASTER A is TMS570LS0714PGE and MASTER B is PIC16LF7515  while SLAVE device is XBEE S2C PRO, all are operating on 3V3 power supply

So i think there is no any signals which exceed the  recommended specs...

What do you want to say about it...?

your guidance is very helpful for me .....

  • Hello,

If that is your operating voltage, then correct, this should work.

Your baud rate of 115200 will be 115.2kHz, which is significantly slower than the max operating speed of this switch at 3V3.

I have attached a snippet of the TS3A24157 below speced at 3V Vcc and highlighted the BW of the device:

Thank you for sharing your application in such detail with us, it really helps us provide you the best support that we can.
