TS5A23159: Cross-Reference ADG736

Part Number: TS5A23159

I used the TI cross-reference tool to find a part to replace the ADG736. The cross-reference gave me the TS5A23159 and stated that this was a direct replacement (code S). Looking at the datasheets, the TI part and the Analog Devices part have different pins that are normally closed versus normally open – making them not directly replaceable with each other. Is there something I am missing in the part functionality, or is there another part that I should be using?

The signals going through the part have a frequency of 1.16MHz and are sinusoidal.

  • Sam,

The terms normally open and normally closed are borrowed from mechanical switches that aren't an accurate description of solid state switches without moving parts.  The important thing to look at is the truth table in the datasheets for both devices.

The pin connections of the switch will depend on the logic thresholds on the IN pins of the switches.  If a logic high signal on the IN the low impedance path for both the ADG736 and TS5A23159 will be from pin 10 to 2 and if logic low pins 10 and 9 will be low impedance.

The TS5A23159 had bandwidth of 100MHz and should not have any issue passing a 1.16MHz signal.

    Thank you,

    Adam
