Should the exposed thermal pad for SN74CBTLV3251 be connected to GND?

I'm assuming yes, but the datasheet does not explicitly specify and I've seen some odd devices that want it connected to VCC.

    Hi Craig,

    The thermal pad can be connected to GND, but not necessarily GND. It can be connected to any copper plane which gives you better heat sink performance.

    In most designs, GND traces and plane is everywhere. That is why most designers will connect thermal pad on GND.
