propagation delay of OPA4872

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA4872, TINA-TI

Hello,

I need the propagation delay of "OPA4872MDREP", but I can't find in datasheet.

Can you please help me out to find this?

  • Hello,

The OPA4872 is an analog video multiplexer, so it doesn't have a constant propagation delay like a traditional MUX would have. The device configured of several amplifier channels that have non-constant phase responses that will cause different propagation delays depending on the signal frequency. If you are sending a single frequency then it is possible to compute a propagation delay, otherwise you will need to look at group delay.

  • Hello Freet,
In my case input to OPA4872 will be "STANAG 3350 Class B, 625i, 25 Hz: Timing corresponds to commercial 625i PAL". So can we calculate the propagation delay now?

  • Hello,

PAL based signal usually run in the 30-300 MHz VHF range or the 300-3000 MHz UHF range. Without knowing the exact frequencies, the easiest solution will be to download the OPA4872 TINA-TI reference design and simulate your circuit across the frequency range. For this type of amplifier you should only see a few nanoseconds of delay for typical uses.

  • Thanks Freet. I have done the simulation at required frequency and got my answer.
