TS5A3359: Power supply for a Switch

Part Number: TS5A3359

Hi,

I want to use the TS5A3359 SP3T switch in an analog circuit. I see that the analog signal range of the switch is 0 to VDD. My signals are sinusoids oscillating about GND, so in the range of +-2V incming on the NO0, NO1 and NO2 ports.

So as to not have the negative part of the signal attenuated, I was wondering if I could give the switch a +-2.5V dual supply instead of a 0 to 5V supply. Would that make my signal with a negative oscillation component ok for use with this switch?

Thanks

Kanika

  • Kanika,

Yes, it is possible that you can bias the switch with +/-2.5V instead of 5V but you must be cautious that all the datasheet values are now referenced to -2.5V instead of 0V.  You will need to keep this new reference in mind for things like Vih and Vil which will now be shifted by -2.5 V.

    Thank you,

    Adam
