TS3A44159: Any part support negative voltage?

Part Number: TS3A44159

Hi,

Hi,

Customer now uses two TS3A44159 for analog audio signal as shown below in the original circuit.  Now, for the purpose to reduce the pulse which cause pop-noise, they add an AC couple cap at the left TS3A44159 chip (see modified circuit.)  But now, there's a side effect from this added AC couple cap: The output of the TS3A44159 at right side was clipped for the negative component.

The question here is,

  • Do we have any part corresponding to TS3A44159 which support negative voltage?  (I can't find it.)

Thanks!

Antony

  • Antony,

Thank you for the detailed information.  The negative clipping is expected for the TS3A44159 as it doesn't support passing negative voltage signals.   TI's audio switch family is the TS5A2236X devices.

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • Hi Adam,

Regarding analog switch which support negative voltage that you mentioned above, they're all 2-ch chips.  I can't find any 4-ch chip.  Can you double confirm if we have it or not?

Besides, we're asked why we mentioned in datasheet that TS3A44159 can support audio signal but actually it does not support negative voltage.  What would be your comments regarding this?

    Thanks!

    Antony

  • Antony,

We do not have a 4-channel device that can support negative swing audio signals at this time.

TS3A44159 has good THD performance across the input voltage range as long as it is above 0 V. This will be good for audio signals before an AC couple stage.

    Thank you,
    Adam
