TS5A22366: TS5A22366baudio switch status when Vcc =0V

Part Number: TS5A22366
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A22362, TS5A22364

Hi,

with reference to the application block diagram of TS5A22366,  i needed some verification on the status of switch position when there's no inbound Vcc into the device. With no Vcc, will the switches on CH1 & CH2 both be floating? Are there NC1/2, NO1/2 status defined when there no Vcc to power up the device?

Regards,

Leo

  • Leo,

The state of the TS5A22366 device when Vcc = 0V is not defined.

Why do you need a defined state when your system is off?

You can look for devices that are Hi-Z when Vcc = 0V by using the quick search tool on ti.com for the feature powered off protection.

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • Hi Adam,
one of the designer for customer's project made assumption that the default state if switches operates in pair thus one would be NC whereas another would in NO state.

If Vcc=0V state is not defined, this means there will not be a default audio source selected? Are there audio switches to recommend which may work as per your advise above?

    Regards,
    Leo
  • Leo,

You can design a default state in your system using the TS5A22366 using a weak pull up or down resistor on the control logic pin but this default logic control will only be valid when the supply voltage is valid.

As I mentioned above there are many switches that are high impedance when Vcc= 0V.  Because most customers want to protect their systems when Vcc = 0V,  we do not have any devices that are low impedance when Vcc = 0V.

For analog audio signals the TS5A22366, TS5A22362, TS5A22364 are good choice because they support negative voltage signals but none of them have powered off protection.

For digital audio signals we have plenty of options that have powered off protection that you can find using the ti.com switch selection tool.

    Thank you,

    Adam
