SN74CBT16211A: white stripe on SN74CBT16211A

Part Number: SN74CBT16211A

Hello TI Experts,

Our customer has bought some SN74CBT16211A,and we found some white stripe on it,it's so strange~

Is their anything wrong with it?

But the sample we applied to customer is like this, looks all right:

  • Qianquian,

I don't understand what you are saying about a "white stripe" are you referencing the white line under the G4?

  • Hello Adam,

their are many white marks on the chip.It looks so strange~

  • Qianquian,

The picture quality is great so thank you for clarifying. It appears you are referencing some potential scuffing in the mold compound. This would be a minor lot variation, and not indicative of a quality risk.

If you have further issues with the device we can do more investigation.

    Thank you,
    Adam
  • hi Adam,
could you help check what causes this phenomenon? customer worry it may be renovation or regrind, thanks a lot.
  • Qianquian,

It is hard to speculate on what is causing the phenomenon because the pictures are not clear enough for me to really see what the issue is. Are you able to provide more clear pictures for comparison? You may need to work on the lighting or use a different camera to get clear pictures so I can see what is different between the devices. Also if we can see the entire lot trace codes that might help as well but we don't expect anything based on our quality history with this device.

    Thank you,
    Adam
  • Please refer to the mark points of the samples and the delivered materials are different. There are traces of repainting on the chip surface of the shipment materials.
Referring to the Contrast images, it is found that the red arrow part has white stripes, indicating that the spraying is uneven.

So we confirm the shipment of material  1, the chip surface is sprayed with a thin layer 2, the surface silk screen has been changed.
Therefore, we need vendor to confirm why there are traces of surface spraying 2, whether the silk screen is original or modified.

add commercial invoice files for your tracking, thanks a lot.

  • user5942098,

Based on the images and invoice provided, the quality team has confirmed that the white markings indicated are cosmetic variation between assembly lots, and do not pose a quality concern. Minor variations in appearance are not uncommon, as many TI products are built across multiple factories with different equipment.

In answer to your earlier questions, the surface of this product is not sprayed, painted, or grinded, nor are the markings evidence of rework. The molding process for this product uses mold tooling, and minor variances in the surface of the molds themselves can produce a slightly different package surface finish. There are no additional process steps to smoothen the package surface, such as grinding or polishing, so some lots may appear smoother than others.

    Thank you,
    Adam
