Dear Technical Support Team,
TMUX series like TMUX1208 has failsafe function.
Is this function supported by other competitor like ADI analog switch?
I didn't find it on competitor website, so this new function of TMUX series is special ( not common).
Is it right?
The Fail-safe logic is not a new feature in the market a TI has had products that support this feature years ago but this the new name for this feature.
You will notice that the names of features are not always consistent across vendors and it is important to look at what the feature actually is doing in the system to determine if the device has that feature or not.
For example there is a feature Maxim switches have called "beyond the rails" which has been trademarked so other companies cannot use that feature name. However, almost all switch vendors have devices that can support "beyond the rails" feature which is simply supporting voltages on the signal path that go above supply.
TMUX1208 datasheet describes fail-safe logic below.
This can also be observed in the recommended operating table that the control logic pins max are not limited by the supply voltage.
This can be seen in many datasheets for example the older TS5A22362. Shows that the control logic pins may have a voltage higher than the supply pin.
I'm not familiar with all ADI devices but I would imagine they have some parts the will support logic voltages above the supply voltage.
