TMUX1511: Can this part be used for video

Part Number: TMUX1511
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CB3Q3125

Hi Support team

Have a customer looking at the TMUX1511 and the SN74CB3Q3125 for a video application. They are asking for 300MHz of large signal bw. Do we have any thd data on these parts? Also, how linear is the part when the signal gets close to ground?

Thanks

Jeff Coletti

  • Jeff,

The TMUX1511 is the newer version of the SN74CB3Q3125 device.  The TMUX1511 3GHz bandwidth is greater than the SN74CB3Q3125 which is about 500MHz.  Typically for digital applictations we recommended the switch bandwidth be 1.5 times the datarate per lane or 3 time the clock frequency per lane.  Since your signal is 300MHz the SN74CB3Q3125 may work but the TMUX1511 will be the better choice.

The TMUX1511 THD is not specified but Ron flatness is characterized.  You can see the that it the on-state resistance is linear across the entire signal range which lends it self to good THD performance.

These devices are only 4-channel devices what type of video signal are you wanting to switch?  What is the voltage range and characteristic impedance of the video signal chain?

    Thank you,

    Adam
