TMUX1208: Is TMUX1208 suitable for HDMI ARC applications?

Part Number: TMUX1208
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HC4051, , TMUX1204, SN74LVC1G3157, TS5A3357

My customer is currently using CD74HC4051 in a HMDI ARC application and would like to upgrade to newer low Ron device.

Their signal swing used to be 3.3V while the latest design will reduce the swing to 0.5V. Since CD74HC4051 internal Ron is fairly high at 100ohm, it reduces the signal further. They would like to know if we have smaller Ron device. TMUX1208 is having much smaller Ron but we are wondering if TMUX1208 is suitable or used in any ARC HDMI application.

Thank you.

The TMUX1208 is a 1-channel 8:1 transmission gate FET switch just like the CD74HC4051 except the TMUX1208 is on a newer process technology.  The TMUX1208 has larger FET switches than the CD74HC4051 which gives it the lower Ron performance but the larger FET has more capacitance and bigger die area which is more expensive for the lower Ron performance.

The newer process technology allows the TMUX1208 to support a wider supply range and can be controlled by 1.8V logic signals.

There are many other options if you don't need an 8:1 such as the 4:1 TMUX1204, 3:1 TS5A3357, or 2:1 SN74LVC1G3157.

    Thank you,
