SN74CB3Q3245: quiescent current

Part Number: SN74CB3Q3245
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CBTLV3245A

Hello

When /OE is high, the device will consume how much current ?

what's different between Ioz and Icc ?

  • Fandy,

The SN74CB3Q3245 device doesn't specify the current consumption when the device is disabled.  If current consumption is critical in your application I would look at the SN74CBTLV3245A device which consumes much less current.  The CB3Q device has an internal charge pump biasing the gate voltage of the FET which is why it consumes more current than the CBTLV device which does not have a charge pump.

The Ioz spec is the leakage current through the signal path when it is off or Hi-Z.  Icc is the current consumption of the IC through the supply pin.

    Thank you,

    Adam

  • Hi Adam

thanks,  my customer's VCC voltage is 3.3V ,mostly it need this device disabled, and he was highly concern Iq.

    for SN74CBTLV3245A

what's the mean of Ioff ?

how much curent Vcc need when device OFF(/OE pin pulled-high) ?

and how much current through A to B or B to A when /OE pin was high ?

  • Fandy,

Ioff is the max leakage current into the signal path pin when Vcc = 0V.  This device has powered off protection which prevents leakage into the signal path when Vcc= 0V.  Devices without this feature will see large leakage through the signal path back powering to Vcc through the ESD protection diodes when Vcc= 0V.

You can use the Icc spec for the current consumption when the signal path is both conducting and Hi-Z.  This device is a transmission gate architecture and doesn't have a charge pump that consumes current turning on and off.  The first few pages of this technote explain the differences in the main switch architectures.

It is not explicitly stated in the datasheet how much leakage current when the signal path is Hi-Z but it will be similar or less than the Ioff spec.

    Thank you,

    Adam
