CD4066B: Does the control voltage will also need to be negative if CD4066 is powered by +/-5V supply?

I have a problem when they are testing CD4066. It seems the control voltage will also need to be negative if CD4066 is powered by +/-5V supply, and that is not described in the datasheet, but I don’t have extra power rail to produce the negative voltage.

Could you give any advice to solve this problem? Or any devices can be achieved by this function, how about TMUX6112 and CD74HCT431?

Hi Adam,

Looking at the pin configuration and Parameter Measurement Information, since there is no ground reference, everything is referenced to VSS in this case.

I will also run some tests to check get back to you.

Hi Adam,

Based on the testing, the control voltage is in the range of 100mV to 500mV to turn ON/OFF the switch when it is powered by +/-5V supply,

However, if the VSS goes to -6V, then control voltage goes below 0V.

We will update the datasheet to make this more clear.
