SN74LVC1G66: max current when port A and port B is shorted

Part Number: SN74LVC1G66

Hi Experts,

We are going to use an analog switch to connect two MCU's IO ports. Due to some reason, there might be a chance that both MCU ports output and the short current flows as below.

This current is defined as abs max as below. Is this correct?

In this case, what kind of solution can we have, other devices or add dumping register, etc?

Regards,

Hisao Uchikoshi

  • Hi Hisao,

If I understand your application correctly you need to look at the On-state switch current It (max +-50mA).

As Ron is quite low, there could be quite some current going through.

You might want to add matched resistors to the in and output of the switch (A/B) to reduce the current. Also shotkey diodes  can be used to run overvoltage/undervoltage to Vcc/GND.

    Best Regards,
