Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9517
Hi Sirs,
Sorry to bother you.
We would like to know is there any need to reserve pull-up resistor at the output?
By the way, what is the COM pin function?
Thanks!!

Hello,
Thank you for posting to E2E, it is no bother at all to help answer your question!
This is a 3-channel, 2:1 (SPDT) mux. The COM pin is the single common pin of each signal path (1, 2, or 3) that is connected to either Y0 or Y1, depending on the control logic inputs (A, B, C, INH). See below for a very high level diagram of a single channel:
To help me answer your question about the pull-up resistor, could you send me a block diagram of your system? Are you using Y0/Y1 as the outputs?
Regards,
Kate
Hi Sirs,
Thanks for your reply.
Please refer our schematic as below
The output is CN_SMB_...
So base on our design do we need to reserve PU resistor on output?
Hello,
Thank you for sending your schematic.
It is not typically necessary to connect a pull-up resistor at the output of SN74LV4053.
However, the datasheet of your downstream component, TCA9517, indicates that pull-up resistors should be connected at pins SCLA and SDAA (which is the output of SN74LV4053). My recommendation is to follow this instruction in the datasheet.
Please take into consideration the voltage and current requirements of your system when choosing a pull-up resistor.
Best regards,
Kate
